What's Search Engine Marketing REALLY worth??
We can all agree that having a website is like adding another location where you can offer your goods to new customers and where you'll invite window shoppers in the hopes that they will either make an impulsive purchase or that they'll like what they see and become paying customers in the future. The cost of opening a new location would include rent and security deposit, utilities and utilities deposit, fixtures, decor, point-of-sale materials, cash registers, credit card terminals, signage, and anything else you can think of. Once you've got the opening planned, now you need some publicity and some sort of a grand opening to attract attention... ouch (expensive)! After your grand opening now you're presented with maintaining the daily expenses of the new location plus headache of dealing with employees and payroll and taxes and everything else that goes along with opening a new store! Now you need customers which means you'll be buying ads in local newspapers and magazines, sponsoring events, direct mailing, and spending money on anything that'll likely bring in paying customers. In comparison, building a website and marketing it is far more economical and efficient that opening a new store. Web designers are now offering their services for far less than you'd think and getting people to your site that are actually looking for what you have to offer is much easier and cost-effective than getting random people to visit your store and purchase from you. What is Search Marketing really worth? The answer is relative. What are you saving by opening a virtual store instead of a costly brick and mortar store? How many more customers can you attract online? How will the Internet allow you to expand your business and make it more productive and more efficient?
